October 29, 2020 - January 1, 2021

As a painter, he considers himself as a self-taught. In his painting we can appreciate different topics and a tension focused in the figure of the fish. The constant search of the color, the textures and the new forms and spaces, inspires his work.

Born in VIÑA DEL MAR – Chile 1975

ENTGRENZUNG

In times of change dissolution becomes visible in many ways. In the material world as much as in the immaterial. Things morphing into each other and find new collaborations, creating new space, new possibilities. The pain of letting go, goes hand in hand with the pain of growing new. Basically this happens all the time in life: change is a more permanent condition than stability.  The work of Daniel Alvarez offers a variety of insights about the subject of change (flow), the element of life (water) and the imprisonment in time (static). Vitality penetrates the lifeless, dead things become the fertile soil of a new world, which hasn’t appeared, yet. The crack within this time dimensions is evident in all paintings of Daniel Alvarez.

Colours forming/marking a strict line to their environment, but without necessarily isolating them. The strong/high contrast highlights the subjectivity more than it shows the outer object. Alvarez work has always   parts of rough or strong texture, which allows a view into the process of natural time, like rock layers show rudimentary elements of other lifeforms or societies in prehistorical terms. Fossils or the living, it all flows, drifts and swims in the symbiotic turbulence of time (process) and space (shapes).

Another constant topic in the work of Alvarez is showing up: the fish, the swarm, a collective intelligence that might be as well a necessity of successful life like its physical and biological conditions. Memories are ENTGRENZUNG

Timedimensions – Metamorphosis – Dissolution – Fusion.

Memories are intelligent, they sketching the future (we all know the influence of history on present times). As the young boy, we imagine, standing in his small port city, dreaming away his days watching the pacific- ocean, will never forget the fish, the creek and the fisherman.
